01 The agreement
Vyn is licensed, not sold. Because it is distributed through the App Store, the licence
itself is Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement — the
Standard EULA — which applies to Vyn in full and is available at
apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula.
These Terms of Use sit alongside it and say the things the Standard EULA cannot: what
Vyn actually is, what it does not include, and what using it assumes about you. Where
the two genuinely conflict, the Standard EULA wins. Installing or using Vyn means you
accept both, together with the Privacy Policy and the
Copyright & Content Policy.
Vyn is published by an individual developer, reachable at
hello@vyn.app, referred to below as "the developer".
02 What Vyn is
Vyn is a media player and catalogue for Apple TV, iPhone, iPad and Mac. It browses
public film and television metadata from TMDB, and it plays media from sources
you configure: your own Jellyfin, Emby or Plex server, an SMB share on your
network, or an IPTV subscription you hold with a provider of your choosing.
Vyn is not a streaming service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated in
partnership with any content provider, media server project, tracker or IPTV panel.
03 Your licence
Subject to these terms and to the Standard EULA, you get a personal, non-exclusive,
non-transferable licence to install and use Vyn on Apple-branded devices you own or
control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.
You may not, except where the law says you may regardless: reverse-engineer, decompile
or disassemble Vyn; remove or alter its notices; rent, lease, lend, sell or sublicense
it; or distribute a modified copy.
04 Content is yours to bring
This is the part that matters most, so it is stated plainly.
- Vyn contains no media. No films, no episodes, no channels, no music.
Nothing is bundled and nothing is downloaded with it.
- Vyn hosts nothing and indexes nothing. There is no Vyn server, no
Vyn catalogue of streams, and no directory of sources built into the app or offered
through it.
- Vyn ships with no sources configured. A fresh install can play
nothing at all until you add a server, a share or a subscription of your own.
- The developer supplies no playlists, credentials or subscriptions,
and will not supply them if asked.
It follows that you are responsible for the media you play through Vyn, and for holding
whatever rights, licences or subscriptions are needed to play it lawfully where you are.
The developer has no visibility into what you connect, no ability to inspect it, and no
ability to remove anything from it.
05 Acceptable use
You agree not to use Vyn:
- to access, play or distribute content you do not have the right to access, play or
distribute;
- to infringe anyone's copyright, trademark or other rights;
- in breach of the terms of any service you connect it to, including your media
server's, your tracker's and your IPTV provider's;
- in breach of any law that applies to you;
- to circumvent a technological protection measure, or to strip, re-encode or
redistribute protected content.
Vyn plays what a source gives it. That is a design decision about quality, not an
invitation: a player that faithfully reproduces a file is not a licence to obtain one.
06 Third-party services
Vyn talks to services it does not operate — TMDB, Trakt, Simkl, MDBList, IntroDB,
YouTube, your media servers and your IPTV provider. Your use of each is governed by that
service's own terms and privacy policy, and your relationship is with them, not with the
developer. The Privacy Policy lists every one and says
what each receives.
Those services can change, restrict or withdraw their interfaces at any time. If one
does, the part of Vyn that depended on it may stop working, and that is outside the
developer's control.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
07 Requirements and changes
Vyn requires tvOS 26.4, iOS 26, iPadOS 26 or macOS 26 or later, and
an internet connection for metadata and for any source that is not on your local network.
Vyn is in active development. Features may be added, changed or removed between
versions, and a capability present in one release is not a promise about the next. Where
something the app relied on disappears — a service shutting down, an interface changing —
the honest outcome is sometimes that a feature goes with it.
08 Price and purchases
Vyn is not yet released and its price has not been set. Any purchase, subscription or
in-app purchase is made from and administered by Apple under the App Store Terms of
Service; the developer processes no payments and stores no payment details. Refunds are
handled by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com.
If Vyn ever offers an auto-renewing subscription, its price, period and terms will be
stated before purchase, in the app and on this site.
09 No warranty
Vyn is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any
kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for
a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The developer does not warrant that Vyn will
be uninterrupted or error-free, that every source will play, or that any defect will be
corrected.
Nothing here excludes a warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded. Consumers in
the United Kingdom, the European Union and other jurisdictions have statutory rights
that these terms do not affect, and some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of
implied warranties, so the exclusion above may not apply to you in full.
10 Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect,
incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for loss of data, revenue or
profit, arising out of your use of or inability to use Vyn — including loss of viewing
history or resume positions, however caused.
The developer's total liability arising out of these terms is limited to the amount you
paid for Vyn in the twelve months before the claim.
These limits do not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by
negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
11 Termination
This licence ends if you stop complying with it. You can end it at any time by deleting
Vyn from your devices; the Privacy Policy explains
what that removes.
12 Trademarks
"Vyn", the Vyn mark and the design of the app and this site belong to the developer.
Apple, Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, Mac, tvOS, iOS, iPadOS, macOS and App Store are trademarks
of Apple Inc. Jellyfin, Emby, Plex, Trakt, Simkl, TMDB, MDBList, IntroDB, YouTube, Dolby,
Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are trademarks of their respective owners.
Those names appear on this site and in the app to describe what Vyn interoperates with.
That is nominative use, and it implies no affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement in
either direction.
13 Governing law
The Standard EULA sets the governing law for the licence itself, and these terms follow
it. Nothing here deprives you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the
country where you live, or of the right to bring proceedings in your local courts where
that law gives you one.
If a provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest continues in force.
Apple's role. Apple is not a party to these terms and has no
responsibility for Vyn. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these
terms and may enforce them against you. Any claim about Vyn — including product
liability, a failure to conform to a legal requirement, or a claim under consumer
protection law — is the developer's responsibility and not Apple's. Apple has no
obligation to provide maintenance or support for Vyn.
