What you can download

Vyn Plus supports offline downloads of finite direct movie and episode files from Plex, Jellyfin and Emby on iPhone and iPad. A direct file is a downloadable media file from your server, rather than a playlist or a manifest assembled for streaming.

Xtream/IPTV sources, M3U playlists, live streams, HLS and transcoded manifests remain streaming-only. Offline downloads are not an Apple TV or Mac feature. Before planning a journey around a download, confirm that the selected source is supported and the local copy is complete.

Get ready while you are still connected

  1. Connect a supported Plex, Jellyfin or Emby source in Vyn on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Find a movie or episode with a compatible direct file and start its download with Vyn Plus.
  3. Open Account → Downloads to follow progress and manage the queue.
  4. Wait for the download to finish, then check that the completed copy plays before you leave your connection behind.

Downloads run through a background session, and you can pause or resume them from Downloads. Your server needs to be reachable while the file transfers. Available space matters too: the local copy occupies storage on that device.

A download belongs to its device

Completed downloads are stored locally inside Vyn on the iPhone or iPad that downloaded them. They are excluded from backup and do not sync through iCloud. A watchlist or playback-progress sync is different from copying a movie file to another device.

If you want the same film offline on both an iPhone and an iPad, each device needs its own completed download. Removing a download in Vyn removes that local copy; it does not delete the original movie from your server.

Deleting the app removes its local data, including downloads. Keep your original files in your own library rather than treating an offline copy as a backup.

What happens if Plus ends?

Vyn Plus is required to create a new offline copy. A completed download remains playable if your Plus entitlement later lapses. This keeps an existing copy useful when you are already away from the network.

The source still needs to be a supported direct movie or episode file when you create the download. Plus does not make live channels, IPTV playlists or unsupported manifests downloadable.

If a download is not ready

Check Downloads for its current state, then confirm your server is reachable and your device has space. A paused or unfinished item is not the same as a ready offline file. Reconnect before depending on it for offline viewing.

If the available source is a streaming manifest rather than a direct file, choose a compatible release if your server offers one. For a persistent issue, contact support with the device, source type and visible error. Do not include credentials or private server tokens.
